Age & Case Study Requirements

1. Minimum Age Requirement (Age 16+)

While the beauty industry is accessible to many, most reputable training providers set a minimum age of 16. There are three primary reasons for this:

  • Legal Liability and Insurance: In most jurisdictions, individuals under 16 cannot enter into a legally binding contract (the course enrollment). Furthermore, professional liability insurance—which is essential for performing beauty services—rarely covers practitioners under the age of 16.

  • Parental Consent: Students aged 16 or 17 are almost always required to have a parent or guardian sign a waiver. This is because the student will be practicing with professional-grade chemicals ($thioglycolic$ $acid$) on "live models," which carries inherent risks.

2. The Case Study Requirement

To receive a certificate of completion, you cannot simply watch videos; you must prove your competency through case studies. This is the online equivalent of a practical exam.

What a Case Study Includes:

Typically, a course will require 3 to 5 unique models. For each model, you must submit a "portfolio pack" consisting of:

  1. Consultation Form: Proof that you checked for contraindications (like styes or recent eye surgery) and performed a patch test.

  2. The "Before" Photo: Clear, high-resolution shots of the natural lashes from the front and side profile.

  3. The "In-Progress" Photo: A photo showing the lashes perfectly adhered to the silicone shield. This allows instructors to check your "isolation"—if lashes are crossed or clumped on the shield, the final result will look messy.

  4. The "After" Photo: The final result after the setting lotion and tint have been removed.
